Izayah Chartrand-Panera came to the rescue for Kamehameha on Tuesday night.
With the Warriors unable to put away Parker and extend their season, Chartrand-Panera hit a buzzer-beater to lift Kamehameha to a 36-34 victory and into a BIIF Division I boys basketball play-in game against Keaau.
The Warriors (6-6) will host the Cougars at 6 p.m. Friday night, with the winner advancing to face top-seeded Waiakea on Tuesday in the BIIF semifinals.
The Bulls (2-10) trailed 22-13 at halftime before fighting their way back.
There will also be a BIIF Division II play-in game Friday night. Pahoa (4-8) will face Ka’u at UH-Hilo gym.
Keaau and Ka’u will go on the road after hosting their respective matchups during the regular season. The Cougars edged Kamehameha 60-59 at home Jan. 16, and Pahoa won in Pahala 55-51 on Dec. 15. The Daggers aren’t playing home games this season as their gym is refurbished.
Konawaena 52, Kealakehe 50: Ethan Neru scored 17 points and Seth Mattos added 14 as the Wildcats held on at home to finish a 7-5 regular season.
The Wildcats will take Hilo in the BIIF semifinals.
Howard Robert scored 29 points to lead the Waveriders, whose season is over at 3-9.
